Board of Trustees

All amendments to the standards require approval from the BidCarbon Foundation's Board of Trustees. Leveraging their extensive and diverse expertise across various sectors, the Board provides financial oversight and strategic governance to strengthen our vision and mission. The board convenes at least six times annually.

The Chair of the Technical Governance Committee also serves as a member of the Board of Trustees. The Chair of the Technical Governance Committee is hold office on a full-time basis, while all other members hold office on a part-time basis.

Addressing climate change and promoting sustainable development necessitates technical expertise, diversity, and a global perspective. Our Secretariat comprises experts stationed across the globe.

Responsible for managing the day-to-day operations and decisions of the BidCarbon Standard Scheme, the Secretariat serves as the primary point of contact for prospective and ongoing projects, as well as individuals interested in our initiatives.

Secretariat

The Technical Committee, overseen by the Board of Directors, consists of two primary components:

Technical Governance Committee (TGC): Comprising independent market specialists, this body ensures rigor and integrity in all our activities. It offers expertise, guidance, and decisions on methodology approval, rule changes, and appeals.

The Chair holds office on a full-time basis. All other members hold office on a part-time basis.

Technical Advisory Committee (TAC): Collaborating closely with the Technical Governance Committee, the TAC assists in approving technical specifications and provides guidance on technical matters. Our initiatives and scheme benefit from the insights and perspectives of field experts.

Technical Review Panels

The Technical Review Panels (TRP) were comprised of experts from diverse global backgrounds. The TRP comprises two review panels: one for climate and one for nature. The Climate TRP is comprised of experts in carbon quantification, while the Nature TRP is comprised of experts in ecology and conservation. Both TRPs are tasked with accelerating the financing of community-focused biodiversity, agriculture, forestry and other land use (AFOLU) projects. Both TRPs guarantee that projects and their associated methodologies meet the highest standards in the market, providing investors and buyers with the confidence they need.

Audits are an essential compliance monitoring tool for the schemes we administer. They are used to verify an application or report, ensure scheme participants are complying with standards, and support our broader compliance monitoring strategy.

The Chair of the Audits Network also serves as a member of the Board of Trustees.
