Who we are

Last updated 3 November 2025

Joon is an early-career researcher actively engaged in the field of climate economics, with interdisciplinary interests spanning regulatory studies and sustainable development. By integrating climate economics with legal and policy research, his work focuses on the interaction between sustainability objectives and regulatory compliance frameworks.

In October 2023, Joon worked together with a group of international collaborators to support the establishment of the BidCarbon Standard Scheme, an independent international greenhouse gas standard with a focus on carbon agriculture and data-driven carbon accounting.

The BidCarbon Foundation is committed to alignment with the International Civil Aviation Organization’s Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA). The Foundation also seeks consistency with emerging best-practice principles, including those developed by the Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Markets (ICVCM).

Through collaboration with governments, standards bodies and other stakeholders, the BidCarbon Foundation aims to support the issuance of high-integrity emission reductions, carbon credits and carbon removals, contributing to global efforts to achieve net-zero emissions.

We believe that well-designed carbon markets can play an important role in accelerating climate action, supporting sustainable development, and delivering tangible benefits to communities and societies worldwide.
