Waste treatment facility or unit

There are 2 types of waste treatment facility or unit eligible under the scheme:

● alternative waste treatment (AWT) facility

○ reactor

○ generator

○ electric

● small-scale technology unit

○ air curtain burner

○ biochar Kiln

○ biochar TLUD (Top-Lit Updraft)

○ TLUD cookstove

○ retort

○ flame cap trough

Manufacturers and importers may apply for the inclusion of their products on the Technical Governance Committee’s approved lists.

Type of waste treatment facility or unit

To be eligible for STCs or AWT facility accreditation, a newly installed waste treatment facility or unit must meet certain requirements.

Small-scale technology unit

A small-scale technology unit must:

■ have STCs created within 6 months of the installation

■ have its component listed on the approved product list

■ meet dMRV design and install guidelines

■ comply with all consumer law

■ be classified as small-scale.

AWT facility

AWT facility must:

New waste treatment facility or unit

You should consider your options and compare the benefits and costs of installing a new or expanded facility or unit. This includes:

■ upgrade or add capacity

■ compliance with current standards

■ operating efficiency

■ hidden costs of changes or upgrades

■ impacts on carbon content, ash content.

■ increased carbon capture

If you are expanding a system, you may need to replace or upgrade components of your facility or unit to participate in the method.

Expanding, upgrading or replacing existing facility or unit

Product de-listings, suspensions and recalls and faults

Our product lists are dynamic and products may be suspended or de-listed at any time if found to be in breach of the Technical Governance Committee's product listing terms and conditions. View recent de-listings and suspensions below.

You may also view Product Recalls issued by the Consumer Protection Association. If a product is recalled by the relevant regulator, it may be removed from our product lists if this also constitutes a breach of the product listing terms and conditions.
