BidCarbon warehouse

Last updated 6 May 2024

The BidCarbon Warehouse is developing digital infrastructure that will foster greater transparency, trust, and integrity in the carbon markets. Elements of this infrastructure have already been successfully prototyped and tested, and we will operationalise them to build the market infrastructure.

Blockchain brings the ancient agricultural industry into the modern world

Blockchain technology would provide the agriculture sector with a safe environment for data access and collection, creating a network where the information available is reliable, trustworthy, immutable and shared among all stakeholders. Blockchain is the ideal solution for traceability. It records every step of the process, from pyrolysis of straw into biochar to application of biochar soil amendment.

Distributed data collection

We are working closely with BidCarbon Big Data (Chengdu) Co., Ltd (BCBD) to provide dMRV design solutions based on blockchain technology for BidCarbon Standard Scheme participants. Blockchain technology enables distributed data collection. This model allows each node to collect and upload data autonomously, ensuring the data is completely authentic and fully reliable. Furthermore, the transparency and non-tamperability of the blockchain guarantee that anyone can audit and verify the source and quality of the data at any time.

Data rights

Blockchain also enables the establishment of ownership rights for data. Blockchain technology allows each piece of data to be assigned a unique identifier that unequivocally identifies both the owner and the user of the data.

Enhanced audit traceability of data assets

Blockchain technology makes it easier and more efficient to trace data assets. Transaction records and data change records on the blockchain provide a complete audit trail, making it simple for auditors to audit and trace back.
