Requirements for Category B auditors

Knowledge of relevant prescribed

The applicant must possess relevant knowledge of the following standards or rules:

Part 1, Subdivision G of Division 4 of Part 6, and Parts 2, 3 and 3A of the GHGR Standard;

Section 1.02, Divisions 2.2, 6.2 to 6.7, Division 2.3, Divisions 2.4 to 2.5, Divisions 4.3, 4.5 to 4.7, and Schedules 1 and 2 of the GHGR Rule;

Parts 1.1 and 1.2 of the Weights and Measures Codes of Practice;

Parts 1 to 4 of the Audit Codes of Practice;

Parts 1 to 3, 6, 9, 17 and 19 of the Carbon Farming Standard.

Alternative Pathways

Where an applicant does not possess knowledge of a particular standard or rule as set out above, the following alternative knowledge requirements apply:

If an applicant does not possess knowledge of Parts 1 to 3, 6 and 13 of the Carbon Farming Rule, knowledge of Parts 1 to 3, 6, 9, 17 and 19 of the Carbon Farming Standard may be accepted in substitution.

If an applicant does not possess knowledge of Parts 1.1 and 1.2 of the Weights and Measures Codes of Practice, knowledge of any applicable methodology may be accepted in substitution.

To be eligible for registration, you must demonstrate that you meet the eligibility criteria. To be eligible, you must:

be registered as a statutory auditor under Part 42 of the Companies Act 2006, or be registered under equivalent legislation in a foreign country;

be a fit and proper person

have tertiary qualifications (a degree or equivalent)

know the rules and standard framework administered by us

know of relevant prescribed

have over 1,000 hours of experience in auditing and preparing audit reports

have over 700 hours of experience in leading audit teams

provide referees who can attest to your competency.

Eligibility to register

As a greenhouse and energy auditor, it is important to continuously meet the necessary requirements to maintain your registration.

Your registration will remain active until you choose to suspend or deregister, or until we suspend or deregister you.
