How to apply for BRUs

To apply for BidCarbon Removal Units (BRUs), you need to complete an  BidCarbon Standard Scheme project report and crediting form in Online Services.

You will need to provide:

an eligible offsets report covering the reporting period

a signed application form for BRUs

an audit report, if required by your audit schedule

A legal opinion or exemption certificate

Any supporting documentation specific to your method

If your project has unfulfilled conditions about eligible interest holder consents or regulatory approval, BRUs will not be issued.

Processing times

We evaluate BRU applications based on your project's method eligibility requirements.

Our processing time for crediting applications is up to 90 days, with an average processing time of 6 weeks. Please take this into account when planning your project.

Once your claim is approved, you will be issued a Certificate of Entitlement. The certification will include the number of BRUs your project is entitled to receive for the reporting period.

Your BRUs will be deposited into your BUC Registry account.

You may apply for a carbon data rights certificate (CDRC) to sell on the CDRC markets or use them to meet obligations for other contracted projects.

If you have a carbon removal contract, you can deliver BRUs to the BidCarbon Climate Trading Company and receive payment.
