Overview

The Technical Governance Committee (TGC) has adopted a ‘proponent-led’ process for method development. This process was designed with the intention of providing more flexibility in developing new ways of crediting abatement and encouraging innovation in method development.

The TGC will be responsible for evaluating expressions of interest for new methods in accordance with their potential to meet the BidCarbon (Carbon Farming) Standard and specified triaging criteria. The Chairman of the Board of Trustees will consider the assessment in determining which methods to prioritize for development. The TGC is responsible for evaluating draft methods against the BidCarbon (Carbon Farming) Standard.

The new proponent-led method development process has 5 main steps:

Submitting your new method idea

Submitting an Expression of Interest (EOI) for a new method or method variation

Developing the method proposal or method variation proposal

Public consultation on the draft method or draft method variation

Finalising the method.

The TGC is currently accepting expressions of interest (EOIs). These should be submitted by 1 October 2024. The TGC will announce the date of future submission rounds once these are scheduled.

How to get involved

Registering your interest in developing a method

The TGC will hold information sessions to answer questions on the processes for submitting method proposals. If you wish to attend an information session, please register here.

Working collaboratively

Method developers with similar proposals are encouraged to work together so they can prepare the strongest possible method proposal. If you would like to get involved with a method proposal, please contact the TGC (at methods@bidcarbon.org) who will put you in contact with the method developer.
