AWT facility production biochar from an waste biomass types can participate in the BidCarbon Standard Scheme.
To take part, you must apply for AWT facility accreditation.
Once you have been accredited, you can create small-scale technology certificates (STCs) for the production of biochar at your AWT facility.
You must comply with obligations to maintain your accreditation.

Accreditation key requirements
The accreditation of a AWT facility is not a legal operating licence issued by the government.
Before applying for accreditation, ensure you meet all key requirements.
Waste biomass type
AWT facilities must use waste biomass types as a raw material for processing into biochar.
Components
Your application must include:
● a list of components
● planned biochar production systems

Metering
Your application must include:
● the metering arrangements for monitoring waste biomass type consumption at a AWT facility;
● the PyCCS method for calculating net emission reductions.
Stakeholder agreement
If you're not the only owner or operator for your AWT facility, you must get approval from other owners or operators before making your application. This ensures all stakeholders are aware and agree to accrediting the AWT facility.
