Applying for BRUs for reporting periods ending after the deceased has passed

Last updated 18 November 2025

If you’re willing and able to act as project proponent, you can keep the project on track. This includes applying for BRUs for reporting periods that end after the deceased has passed.

If probate was granted, you can only act as project proponent from the date probate was granted and not retrospectively to the date of death. This may affect estates if the reporting period for the project ends after the deceased’s passing but before probate was granted. If you are impacted, you should contact us as soon as possible.
