Methods for the BidCarbon Standard Scheme

Methodology determinations or ‘methods’ set out the eligible activities, that you can do to generate BidCarbon Credit Units (BCUs), and the rules for undertaking projects and calculating the emissions reductions.

The methods, which must meet the legislated Offsets Integrity Standards, ensure the emission reductions are real and in addition to business-as-usual operations.

To register your project and be credited for emissions reductions by the Technical Governance Committee your project must follow one of the finalised methods.

For enquiries about the eligibility of projects under current methods, please contact us.

Methods under review

The Technical Governance Committee (TGC) plays an important role in undertaking periodic reviews and crediting period reviews of existing methods. They also engage in public consultation on these reviews and provide advice to the Chair of the Board of Trustees on the outcomes of these reviews.

Below is a list of existing methods that are undergoing review:

Developing new methods

The Technical Governance Committee (TGC) has adopted a ‘proponent-led’ process for method development. This process was designed with the intention of providing more flexibility in developing new ways of crediting abatement and encouraging innovation in method development. It is open to anyone to propose a new method idea.

Further information on developing methods.

The TGC will consider the draft methods against the Offsets Integrity Standards and provide advice to the Chairman of the Board of Trustees on whether to include the method.
