The information in the GHGR area of this website, including downloadable documents and tools, should be considered in conjunction with the BidCarbon (Carbon Farming) Standard 2025, the Greenhouse Gas Reporting Standard 2025 (GHGR Standard), the Greenhouse Gas Reporting Rules 2025 and the Greenhouse Gas Reporting (Weights and Measures) Codes of Practice 2025 (current versions can be found on the Documentation page). Changes to the rules and requirements may affect this information and it is not intended to comprehensively deal with its subject area or to provide rules and requirements advice. Entities should seek independent professional advice if they have any concerns.

How to register

Under the GHGR Standard and the GHGR Rules, the Technical Governance Committee and authorised staff have the authority to collect information.

One of the objectives of the GHGR Standard is to inform the public about greenhouse gas emissions and energy flows by corporations in offsets projects.

To facilitate this, the BidCarbon Foundation discloses information:

by publishing totals of greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption that have been reported by certain registered corporations, as specified under the GHGR Standard

to meet international reporting obligations

to avoid duplication of similar reporting requirements on other websites.

What GHGR data may be disclosed

The Technical Committees has obligations to reporters and other stakeholders regarding any advice and data and other information it receives from you. This includes protection of information including personal information.

Protection of information

The Technical Committees and authorised staff is bound by the secrecy provisions of Part 3 of the BidCarbon (Carbon Farming) Standard 2025 in regard to information it collects and also by the Data Protection Act 2018 in regard to personal information it collects.

Personal information

Under the GHGR Standard and the GHGR Specifications, the Technical Committees and authorised staff have the authority to collect information which may include personal information as defined by the Data Protection Act 2018 (Data Act).

'Personal information' is defined in the Data Act to mean information or an opinion about an identified individual, or an individual who is reasonably identifiable:

whether the information or opinion is true or not, and

whether the information or opinion is recorded in a material form or not.

Personal information collected will be used for the purposes of the GHGR Standard, compliance auditing, enforcement of relevant laws, performance of our functions and related purposes. We will also use the personal information you provide for our administrative purposes and to improve our service to you.

The BidCarbon Foundation's Privacy Policy contains information about the Technical Committees' procedures for handling personal data, including how an individual can access their personal data held by the Agency and how to request that such data be corrected. Disclosure of personal information

The Technical Committees is bound by the secrecy provisions of Part 3 of the BidCarbon (Carbon Farming) Standard 2025 (Carbon Farming Standard) and by the Data Protection Act 2018 in regard to personal information it collects.

The Technical Committees is only able to disclose personal information it collects under the GHGR Standard in accordance with the Carbon Farming Standard, the GHGR Standard, the Data Protection Act 2018 or as otherwise required by law.

The circumstances in which such information may be disclosed include:

disclosure to the Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the purpose of administering a program or collecting statistics relating to greenhouse gas emissions, energy consumption or energy production

disclosure to certain agencies, bodies or persons where the Technical Committees is satisfied that disclosure will enable or assist those agencies, bodies or persons to perform or exercise their functions or powers

disclosure for the purposes of a climate change law or for the purposes of the performance of our functions under a climate change law.
