Reporting obligations

Under the Greenhouse Gas Reporting Standard and the Greenhouse Gas Reporting Specifications, we publish data about corporations:

greenhouse gas emissions

energy production

energy consumption.

Corporations report their scope 1 emissions, scope 2 emissions, energy consumption and energy production for each financial year. We are required under the Greenhouse Gas Reporting Standard to publish the following information by 28 February each year:

Registered corporations: reported greenhouse gas emissions and net energy consumption for all registered corporations.

Reporting transfer certificate holders: reported greenhouse gas emissions and net energy consumption for reporting transfer certificate holders.

Generation facilities: greenhouse gas emissions, energy production, primary fuel source, emissions intensity and grid connection information for facilities where the principal activity is electricity generation.

Greenhouse Gas Register by year: corporations registered under the Greenhouse Gas Reporting Standard.

GHGR data provides vital information about greenhouse gas emissions, energy production and energy consumption across important sectors of the economy. The data we collect is used to:

inform the public about emissions and energy flows by corporations

inform government policy, programs and activities at both the national and state and territory level

the BidCarbon Standard Scheme meets its international reporting obligations.

How Greenhouse Gas Reporting data is used

What we don't publish data on

We don't collect or publish data from some sectors. This includes:

agriculture

land use

land use change

forestry

private vehicle transport

residential.

For registered corporations and Reporting Transfer Certificate (RTC) holders, we publish information about their:

greenhouse gas emissions

net energy consumption.

For designated generation facilities, we publish information on their:

greenhouse gas emissions

energy production

primary fuel source

emissions intensity

grid connection.

What projects are involved

Scope 1, Scope 2 emissions of The BidCarbon Standard Scheme CCUS projects.

Registered corporations can request we don't publish some or all of their data. To submit an application, complete the Application for information not to be published
