Become a registered agent

Retailers, traders and installers can apply to become a registered agent.

Before you apply to become a registered agent, make sure you understand:

your obligations as a registered agent, including the expected capabilities and standards of practice for registered agents

The 2 types of biochar production systems are:

high-scale technology (pause)

small-scale technology

requirements for installing a biochar production systems

how to create small-scale technology certificates (STCs) or high-scale technology certificates (HTCs).

Step 1: 

Understand your obligations

Go to Online Services

Log in if you already have an account or sign up for a new account if you don't.

Step 2: 

Create a Online Services account

Complete Systems Smart in the Online Services.

Select 'Systems Smart' under the 'my systems' tab to access the Systems Smart site.

Under 'course catalogue', select the enrol button under the 'Pyrolysis Systems' course. Follow the prompts to access the course content.

Step 4: 

Apply for a System Registry account

Select the 'Eligible systems' link in the ribbon at the top of the page in the Online Services.

Select 'apply for an account'.

Select 'registered agent'.

To apply for a registered agent account, you must:

supply the relevant proof of identity documentation

complete a questionnaire

declare your status as a fit and proper person.

If you have an existing registered person account and have completed the System Smart course, you can upgrade to a registered agent account via your existing System Registry account.

Step 5: 

Pay your registration fee

Assessing your application can take up to 6 weeks.

Once approved, you'll need to pay your registration fee in the System Registry under 'fees'. The fee is £200.

You must pay your fee before you create certificates.

Step 6: 

After registration

As a registered agent, you can:

create different types of system certificates

create users in your account and provide them with the permissions to perform functions in the System Registry.
