Buying CDRCs

Last updated 3 November 2025

If there aren't any CDRCs available for sale in the BidCarbon marketplace, certificates are substituted with 'Operating Companies created CDRCs' for buyers to purchase. These CDRCs can be traded and surrendered as ordinary CDRCs.

Payment must be received in full before CDRC's are released from the BidCarbon marketplace.

Once payments are cleared, we settle the purchase and CDRCs are transferred into the buyers BUC Registry account.

The BidCarbon removal units (BRUs) within those CDRCs are then retired from the BidCarbon Units and Certificates (BUC) registry.

Therefore, retirement of a BRUs indicates that it has been utilised and is no longer available for sale or trade on the carbon market.

The BidCarbon marketplace is a facility within the BUC Registry that supports holders of carbon data rights certificates and entities buying and selling CDRCs at a fixed price.

Depending on demand, CDRCs may join the BidCarbon marketplace transfer list if there are more sellers than buyers. This is a first-in-first-served system, the latest offers are added to the bottom of the list.

The status of the BidCarbon marketplace transfer list is available in the BUC Registry and updated hourly.
