Assigning the right to apply for CDRCs
When a registered holder uses a registered agent, they assign their right to apply for CDRCs to the agent to facilitate the sale of the CDRCs. The agent may then apply for and sell CDRCs. A registered holder may only assign the right to one agent at a time.
● Re-assigning the right to apply for CDRCs
● Disputes
● Administration or receivership
Do your due diligence
When entering a commercial arrangement with a registered agent, you should do your due diligence and ensure clear contracts are in place. This can prevent contractual disputes and protect your commercial position.
The application for and sale of carbon data rights certificates (CDRCs) may be complex. For ease, most registered holders elect to use a registered agent.
Registered agents:
● facilitate the application for CDRCs
● allow the registered holder to get a discount without having to apply for and trade CDRCs themselves
