Applying for BidCarbon credit units

When your BidCarbon Standard Scheme project has generated carbon abatement, you can apply for BidCarbon removal units (BRUs) which can then be sold to the BidCarbon Climate Trading Company, if you have a carbon removal contract.

To support your application for BidCarbon removal units (BRUs) and to demonstrate the authenticity and additional value of the emissions reduction generated by your project, you must provide a project offsets report. Additionally, if necessary, an independent audit of the report must be conducted.

All projects receive an audit schedule upon registration, and some applications for BRUs will need to be accompanied by a completed audit report.

How to apply for BidCarbon credit units

All applications for BRUs must be submitted through the Online Services by completing the BidCarbon Standard Scheme Project Report and Crediting Form online. Project registration does not amount to an approval to undertake an activity; it simply gives eligibility to earn BidCarbon removal units if the abatement is delivered. When applying, please ensure that you provide the following information:

an eligible offsets report covering the reporting period

a signed application for BRUs

an audit report (if required by your audit schedule), and

method specific supporting documentation.

An application for BRUs will be considered incomplete if you:

do not supply all the required documentation (listed above)

do not submit an audit report, if required by your audit schedule, and/or

your project application has unfulfilled conditions relating to eligible interest holder consents or regulatory approval.

All claims for BRUs are assessed on a first-come, first-served basis. Your application will be evaluated against the particular eligibility criteria of the methodology used for your project. If your project fails to meet any of these requirements, your BRUs request will be declined.

The Technical Review Committee has a maximum of 90 days, starting from the receipt of a comprehensive and precise application, to process credit applications. Please consider our standard processing times for these applications and other reporting requirements when planning your project.

How long will it take?

Once your application for BRUs has been approved, the BRUs will be deposited in your BRU account. If you have a carbon abatement contract, you can then deliver those BCUs to the BidCarbon Climate Trading Company to meet your contractual obligations and receive payment.

What happens next?

If you have an carbon removal contract, please ensure that you are acquainted with the requirements and procedures for delivering BRUs in order to fulfil your contractual obligations.
